Cast Bios

Jessica Ruth Baker (Lucy, Ben's mother, Woman)
Jessica is going into her fourth year at UMBC as a dual Acting and Scenic Design major, and is
currently serving as President of the UMBC Theatre Council of Majors. She was recently in
The XX Chromosome Genome Project as Vanilla, and as Connie in The Mai, both at the Strand Theatre;
she was also involved in Glass Mind Theatre's Antarctica this past spring. She is so proud to finally
be a part of a BPF production and loves the ensemble that has been created here.

Christopher Krysztofiak (Nathan)
Christopher is pumped about his first show at TMC having recently finished a run of The Marriage of
Bette and Boo with Barry Feinstein. He is a graduate from Carver A&T, with a degree in acting from
Frostburg State. Christopher is also a member of The Baltimore Rock Opera Society of who will melt
your face if you dare come hither to their monstrous creation.

Jessica Leigh (Suze)
Jessica moved to Baltimore last August to take on the most challenging role of her life: Baltimore City
middle school teacher. Other favorite roles include Mrs. Pascal House of Yes, Edna, Waiting for Lefty, Luisa,
Nine and Shelley, Bat Boy. Many thanks to Peter, Ken, cast and crew!

Alexander Scally (Ben)
Alexander is thrilled to return to Theatrical Mining Co. after portraying "Nelson" in Gay Deceivers
(Best Play winner, BPF 2008) and "Dr. Binder" in last summer's Turducken. A recent graduate of UMBC's
Acting BFA program, he moonlights as Managing Director of Glass Mind Theatre, where he will direct the
Craigslist-inspired original, Please Flag With Care, at Load of Fun Theatre in September. Recent
productions include: The Miser (Fells Point Corner Theatre), Antarctica (Glass Mind Theatre), and
Lysistrata (Run of the Mill Theatre).

Andrew Syropoulos (Tim)
Andrew's very excited to be spending another year with the Baltimore Playwrights Festival. Last year he was
part of Sex and Desperation at Spotlighters. Andrew is a 2001 graduate from the Baltimore School for the Arts
and got his BFA in Theater from Marietta College in 2005, where he did numerous shows as an actor, director,
dramaturge, stage manager, and designer. He currently works in Towson for a pain medicine specialist, while
doing theater that "feeds his soul."

Ken Greller (Playwright)
Ken has had plays seen and heard at Baltimore Theatre Project, Fells Point Corner Theatre, The Park School of
Baltimore, Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, Load of Fun Theatre, the Baltimore Book Festival, and the Kennedy Center
Page to Stage Festival. His play Ta-Da! was a finalist for the 2010 WordBridge Playwrights Lab in Clemson, SC
and his short play Taxicab Confessions (or)Taxicab Depressions was a finalist for the 2009 Source Festival in
Washington, DC. Ken is an alum of NTI Theatermakers at the O'Neill Theater Center, the Kennedy Center Playwriting
Intensive and was a 2009-2010 Dramaturgy Apprentice at Baltimore CENTERSTAGE. In the fall, he'll begin pursuing
his BFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He is a member of both the Playwrights Group of
Baltimore and the Dramatists Guild of America.

Peter Davis (Director)
Thirty years ago Peter co-owned a theater company in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In five years they produced over 40
plays; he directed half and wrote five. Streetcar Named Desire (Williams) and When Ya Comin' Back Red Ryder (Medoff)
are two favorite experiences from that time. He's back in theater after a 25-year detour playing drums in rock & roll
and country music bands in Chicago. Since moving to Baltimore two years ago he has been writing one-act plays and
directing staged readings for the Baltimore Playwrights Festival. Life is good.

Barry Feinstein (Artistic Director)
Barry has been directing plays in the BPF nearly every year the festival has been in existence. He created TMC four
years ago which has won several awards in the festival, including best production for last year's Ape on The Church Steps
and best play for 2008's Gay Deceivers. He most recently directed Susan Middaugh's play, Black Widows, with TMC to
sold-out audiences. While working as the Artistic Director for this production, he is simultaneously directing Fool
For Love at Fells Point Corner Theatre, which opens in September.

Charles W. Danforth III (Lighting Designer)
Charlie returns to TMC for its fourth season ready for more "challenges." Among his favorites are Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Sunday in the Park with George, and West Side Story. In theatre, Charlie lives by the phrase
"If the world's a stage, I want better lighting."

Darla Luke (Set Designer)
In addition to designing the poster for The Theatrical Mining Company's production of Why We Can't Have Nice Things, she
has designed and painted sets for Black Widows, and last year's Ape on the Church Steps. Darla has designed sets for
Spotlighters' Tennessee Williams short plays Four by Tenn and FPCT's The Marriage of Bette and Boo, The Miser, Bug,
The Homecoming, and Off the Map. Darla's studio is located in the Fells Point area of Baltimore. Her paintings can be

Kathy McCrory (Stage Manager)
Kathy is pleased to be working again with Theatrical Mining Company and Peter Davis. She has been involved in Community
Theater for the past 12 years in various capacities. Some of her favorite Baltimore Playwrights Festival shows that she
has worked on are Ella's Song, Gay Deceivers, and Almost Vermillion. It has been a joy to watch this cast bring Ken's
play to life, and to work with a director that is new to our area, but not new to directing. Um,,, Have fun out there cast!

Crystal Sewell (Lighting Tech)
Crystal has decided to spend her whole summer here at TMC. She was last seen as Shelly in Black Widows, the show that proceeded
this one. For that production she was also Stage Manager and Sound Technician. She is happy to dedicate her time to TMC efforts.
You can next see her in A Doll's House, as Helene-The Maid, at The Vagabond in September. Thank you to the cast and crew for a
wonderful experience!
